I'll cry if I want to.

I’ve flown into my parents’ house for a little bit to totally steal the crap out of their wi-fi so I can post this blog (I'm also hogging the kitchen and baking up a storm).

Sorry I’ve been so absent – but as it turns out I was totally right about having no time to blog. I haven’t even had time to write posts, let alone find a connection to send them! Moving is HARD. We’re getting there though, slowly but surely. And the next thing on our list is signing up with Sky or Virgin. Internet and Telly! My two favourite things.

Thank GOD for my iPhone, though. I am clinging to the Twitter app for dear life at the moment. Ugh, I have an addiction.

Anyway, it’s my birthday on Thursday and I thought I’d belatedly put together a list of things that I want! Because hey, if I don’t get them, I can always buy them with birthday money. *is very much hoping for birthday money*

OPI Parlez Vous OPI?
This is my favourite nail polish shade ever. I’m wearing it right now. But my bottle is halfway gone, and I NEED SOME MORE. I love it so much I’m tempted to buy like ten bottles so I never run out. It’s a lush dark lilac shade… I believe I once read it described as ‘mushroomy’. And it sort of is! It’s different, classy, and very cool.

Cath Kidston iPhone Case.
I WANT ONE.

New duvet cover!
I only have one! (oh my god, though, my bed is amazing, it’s HUGE and so comfy, I literally never want to leave it.)

Graphics tablet
Because I am a NERD. And I am desperate to get properly drawing again. I really miss it! I want to redesign my blog and website and etsy and all sorts.

Baking things!
I totally forget that whenever I bake I steal my mother’s equipment! I need an electric whisk and scales and a mixing bowl and cute cookie-cutters and a new piping set and… you know what, I really want cake now.

Geeky DVDS
Honestly, Buffy s5, s6 and s7 have been on my Amazon wishlist forevs. I need them in my life. I love how it’s sort of cool to admit that you’re a Buffy fan now. But I’ve always been a total Buffy fangirl. LOVE.

Fuji Instax Camera
It’s kind of like a Polaroid!

Diana Camera
Because I see a bandwagon, and I want in.

I am bemused to note that no clothes or shoes have made the list. This both shocks and appalls me. But I did do obscene amounts of shopping when I was away visiting my friends (three dresses, two jackets and a whole bunch of jewellery) so that’s probably why.

Oh, but I can think of one fashiony item!

Well, a girl can dream, can’t she?

Enter this deserted house... but please walk softly as you do.

I'm away visiting friends this weekend, but while I'm off gallivanting round the country, I thought I'd share with you the photos I took last time I was up the Derbyshire way.

My friend Ali and I visited Haddon Hall. It was a scorching day, so we did the gardens slowly but surely, jumping from shade to shade (I've got sunburnt about five times this year already. Curse my paleness). And taking many, many photos.

A novel way to stop people sitting on the chairs, hee.

I was also excited to learn that one of the previous families to occupy Haddon Hall was the Vernon family, who came over with William the Conqueror. Vernon being my surname, and my uncle's geneology experiments showing that WE came over with William the Conqueror (according to my sister, this is why we both enjoy winning so much. I win!) sooo... yeah, this is my house. I want it back, okay.

That's reasonable, right?

In other news...

I think I'm going to struggle to blog regularly over the next few weeks - work is at its busiest in the summer, and we don't have internet at the new house yet. So, would anyone fancy writing some guest-posts?

So many of you are genius bloggers and I'd love for you to add your stamp to my blog - if you're interested, email me or leave a comment with your post ideas and I'll get back to you!

Hopefully regular service will be resumed soon! I miss you guys. :(

It is blue-butterfly day here in spring.

Butterflies are awesome, right? Right.

Butterfly World is a new place that's opened right round the corner from my house, so we headed on down there a couple of weeks ago to take a sneaky look. It's a work-in-progress project that aims to be the biggest butterfly experience in the world by the time it's completed next year, dedicated to preserving the butterfly species.

Even though parts of it are still being built, what's there is really cool. Like giant sized garden ornaments!

Currently, it's a fairly small operation, with a butterfly house and some pretty gardens and a nice lake. But according to the website, by next year there is going to be a living rainforest there! I'm not really sure what that means, but
it sounds cool!

Part of it is the Future Gardens, which were built as part of a design competition. And if you've ever seen the Mighty Boosh episode with the 'Future Sailors', you will know exactly what I sing every time I pass the sign when I come off the M25. Future Gardens!

There were weird but cool rockeries everywhere. With Action Men and clocks and stuff.

Anyway, I was mostly just excited to get the chance to take photos of butterflies at super close range. Ahhh butterflies.
