Apologies for the radio silence around these parts. May was a super busy month with hen dos and yet more hen dos, and June so far has been spent recovering from said hen dos. But now I'm back! With so much to say! About food I've eaten! And things that I've done!
One such thing that I did recently was to go to Newbury Races for the day. I was kindly invited along to experience the Al Shaqab Lockinge Day (remember my giveaway?) from a hospitality suite. Fancy, right? It totally was.
The Al Shaqab Lockinge Day is the biggest day in Newbury Racecourse's year, and it was great to go along and see everyone dressed in their finery. There were some spectacular fascinators. The weather was a bit unpredictable on the day, so it was fantastic to have access to the hospitality suite - we could see the finish line from the balcony, and if it turned nippy, we could dash inside for canapes and champagne.
For a treat, I would absolutely recommend splashing out on hospitality at Newbury Races. It makes the day totally weather-proof - if you fancy a little flutter, you can place and collect on bets from the area inside, too - and there's a great view of the finish line. You can even stay in a hotel right on site, which some other bloggers like Charl and Terri did (we had the longest train journey home ever and missed most of Eurovision, boo). But what makes it really worth it is the service. All food and drink was included, all day, which meant that our glasses were constantly being topped up with pink Veuve Clicquot, and we didn't stop munching on delicious food. I felt like a total VIP.
In fact, when we left there in the evening, we both realised that drinking a touch more water and a touch less champers might have been an idea - all that fizzy stuff does go to your head slightly. I was still getting to grips with my new camera, so didn't take too many photos but you can see what I wore on Instagram here - a tropical Dorothy Perkins dress from last year, with brown wedges from Spartoo.
It was such a good day, and we even won a little bit of money! I'd definitely look into going to the races again, it's such a fun day out. And with Ascot this week, there are loads of chances for you to go too, if you fancy it.
