The joy of repetition really is in you.

I wore this exact outfit to work a couple of weeks ago. And I felt nice, you know. The dress is a nice length, silky material, and layered and light so it seems to float as you walk, while the shoes are summery. But no one commented, and I felt a bit sad. But then, I realised, I pretty much already have this dress. Or, rather, I have this dress - and this dress - and this dress - and this dress. So no one realised that this wasn't all those dresses - even though to me, it's totally different.

I know I'm someone who gets a lot of high street bargains - I've realised fairly recently that I 'stalk' items from the moment they come in until the minute they go on sale. It's only since starting Friday Frocks that I realise how many of my dresses are bought in the sales - almost all of them!

However, unlike some of my blogging friends like Ellie or Jen, I'm not a big thrifter. I lose patience in charity shops and the sight of a pile of clothes at a car boot sends me running. So it was luck, really, that I found this - peeking out from a rail at a car boot recently. It's H&M and seemed pretty much unworn - and was only £2.50! And, I do recognise that it's similar to a lot of dresses I already I own, for that price, you really can't argue. Plus, I love the print, and the colours, and the length.

I keep finding quirky little accessories in the sales lately - this binoculars necklace was only £2 in the Accessorize sale, while this bird belt was £1.50, I think, from New Look. Happy days.

Dress - H&M via car boot
Belt & Wedges - New Look
Necklace - Accessorize
Nails - Barry M

  1. I'm a bit of a sale stalker as well Sarah! Though my worst case is with Accessorize- those 70%off signs are a sight for sore eyes I tell you, I never buy anything full price in there anymore - you can pretty much guarantee it'll go into the sale at the end of the season. x

  4. Haha, I know the feeling! With me it's shirt-dresses, in shades of blue. I just changed out of one (sky blue, with white birdies) into another (denim blue, with white polkadots) and I bet my flatmate doesn't notice I've changed!

  5. My friend once told me that most people's wardrobes are generally composed of the same four items, repeated. That's true of me: mine would be dresses, cardis, skinny jeans, and stripy tops. You look lovely!

  6. In my mind having four similar dresses that you love, just means four less times you have to do washing becasue the dress you love is in the washing basket! Plus it's a gorgeous dress, and such a bargain!

  8. I love the belt, totally amazing!
I'm like you - lose patience in charity shops and I can never be bothered to sift through everything. But it is totally satisfying when you find that one (or a few) precious treasures!

  10. This dress is gorgeous, yes it is similar to the ones you mentioned, but it's still beautiful, and as you say, for £2.50 you can't go wrong!
I'm a bit of a stalker like that, when I'm trawling through shop's websites, I often bookmark stuff and check it every so often to see if it's on sale, I overuse the ASOS Save For Later function!
That necklace and belt is so lovely, very different! xx
