So Christmas is over for another year, and now we're in that weird in-between period where some of us have to work and the rest of us float around like lost teenagers, suddenly with no idea how to get dressed before noon or wash any dishes. For the next few days, chocolate is still a reasonable option for breakfast and, while the fridge isn't as impressive as it was a few days ago, there's still enough leftover meat and cheese to ensure some epic sandwiches.
For me, this is a great time to regroup and catch up on sleep, but at the same time it feels rather like I'm biding my time until the real world begins again. I'm still eating all the unhealthy food I can lay my hands on, but I find myself craving salad and fresh food. I'm sneaking it in, actually - even on our Christmas Day breakfast, I added a little fruit to our platter of Brioche Pasquier pastries. I'm not sure it did much alongside Buck's Fizz and buttery croissants and brioche, but it felt like it helped. And it was delicious on top of a Nutella slathered croissant.
Today will be spent lounging around in my pyjamas, working my way through the enormous pile of cookbooks I got for Christmas, and maybe starting to re-consider healthy cooking again. If anyone can help me, this gang can.

I was really disappointed with this years Christmas breakfast, because there basically wasn't one and so I need to make sure I host next year as breakfast is my fav!!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are lovely! xx
And suddenly I'm wondering why I've never combined Nutella and brioche. I salute you!

These look amazing! I do find this time of year really odd, I never get time off work so it always feels a bit sad sitting in the office when everyone else is at home! x
ReplyDeleteI woke up too late this year for official breakfast but you know it was Christmas so we just delayed lunch! Saying that it wasn't proper breakfast food! Next year I will make sure i'm up with the champs and strawbs (plus chocolate obvs!). Great post and your pics are lovely x
