I went along for tea and cakes in the afternoon and it was lovely - I nibbled miniature scones, sipped peppermint tea (well - one sip - nope, still not a tea convert) and had a grand old time watching the illustrators at work and catching up with some of my favourite blogging ladies - Ellie from Pretty Much Penniless, Fiona from Save Our Shoes and Carrie from WishWishWish.
I also had an illustration done by Rachel de Ste. Croix aka Precious Little. She's very talented!
Ellie managed to escape my camera so I have represented her here in illustration form, given the theme of the event. It is uncanny. I am 98% sure there were definitely bees.
(I was late because my watch had stopped, and also because I went to get cupcakes)
After the party, I enjoyed an after-dark wander around Shoreditch with Ellie, Carrie and Fi which included a wander around Caravan - basically my dream house in shop form - and a quick dinner in The Breakfast Club. Fi and I also popped back to the Amelia's party to see the evening entertainment - it seemed amazing but it was crazy busy and we were sleepyheads, so we said our goodbyes. I then headed home and explored the goody bag - so generous! I loved reading through the last print issue of Amelia's Magazine on the train, but I think my favourite thing was the Tatty Devine cutlass necklace - amazing!
I wore this dress from Miss Selfridge, which is about three years old. My friend and I call it my Victorian Widow dress because it's so old-fashioned, although actually, it's really quite on-trend at the moment! I do love it, the pleats in the skirt are gorgeous and you know I'm a sucker for a statement collar and polka dots.
I teamed it with a red hat - it was COLD - and this red belt and cardi. The shoes came along, but never made it out of my bag - I did so much walking that it was definitely day for flat boots. Oh - I also wore my new bag from Accessorize which I picked up in the sale for a bargain £7.50! It's so cute and amazingly, big enough for my camera.

Oh - I also had my hair cut! First time in 3 months - a lot of it is gone. Although it needed it, I miss it!
I think the greatest part of this post is the picture of Ellie. Honestly.

I've got that dress! Although (confession time), I've NEVER worn it..! It's a size or so too big, & just doesn't look right on me. But I love it nonethless, so have never managed to get rid of it (who am I kidding, I don't get rid of anything. At all. Ever)
ReplyDeleteI am seriously tempted now though to go & dig it out & try it with some red accessories, a la you! Because you look damn good missy.. Would you be offended or flattered if I took a leaf out of your book & tried a similar way to wear that dress..? Although now I'm annoyed because I'm realising I don't have all that much red anything in my possession..
Anyway, this has turned into a super-long comment, about not much at all - so, bye!
