We'll blow one last kiss to all the beautiful nights like this.

This is one of those dresses that WORKS HARD. Whenever magazines do their features on desk-to-bar outfits, I always think ‘Pah, I wouldn’t wear that to work!’ or ‘No way would I wear that to a bar!’ but a well-cut LBD can see you through SO many occasions. I have worn this twice in the last week – once, to work, and the other time, on my birthday night out. It’s such a simple, classic cut that it’s easy to transform with different accessories.

I actually think this could be the perfect LBD. I can think of longer-legged girls than me who would shy away from this as day-wear, as it’s a little bit short, but I can get away with that (because I’m a little bit short too). The high neckline means it’s okay for the office, while the flirty flared skirt gives it character, and would look perfectly at home in a nightclub. I don’t like to be too cleavagey at work (although I often can’t help it, as the girlies I sit with can never resist pointing out) and that’s what stops a lot of clothes multi-tasking for me. The length will be okay, but the neckline – not so much. This? Perfect.

Dress – Vero Moda at ASOS
Shoes – Primark
Belt - Topshop
Necklace c/o Temporary Secretary
Nails - Barry M

It's by Vero Moda, and I got it for a bargain price in the ASOS sale not long ago (it's sold out in black now, but not in red or brown). I was actually after this dress, but decided to go for the cheaper options (just £15 in the sale!) and am so not disappointed. And I love this Temporary Secretary owl pendant with it – I really don’t ever wear long or chunky necklaces but this one has swayed me, I love it. I’m developing quite the collection of owl accessories lately! I teamed this for a day at work with my trusty, increasingly-battered-looking Primark wedges (they are SO comfortable) and my new haircut (I am still sulking about how much shorter it is than this time last week).

I quickly styled up a couple of other ways to wear this dress - I can think of dozens of other ways, but it was 30 degrees outside and I was melting, so gave up after two (putting on black tights finished me off). How would you wear it?

Hat - H&M
Collar - girlandbird
White belt - Topshop
Black belt - Matalan
Bow brooch - New Look

  2. I love this dress, and it suits you so well! I also have the trouble with hemlines, if I find one with a high-enough neckline, the leg line (?) is too high, or vice-versa. Very annoying.
I love the peter pan collar you added onto it! xx

  7. I love an LBD, so many options for styling and so easy to wear. I have one LBD that has lasted me over 4 years and two trips to Southeast Asia! Still going strong though - works with heels, flats, belts, necklaces, cardi's and jumpers. Love it.

  8. Oh I like that a lot. I wouldn't have ever described it as too short for daywear though, even on a taller girl. I clearly have no shame about flashing my thighs at work, ha!

You're looking super hourglassy and gorgeous in these pics.

The collar changes its appearance so much, in a good way of course!

  19. I LOVE your girlandbird collar, just gorgeous. I must confess to not actually owning an LBD, I'm more of a navy dress girl myself. But I reckon I can 'borrow' some of your LBD styling ideas for a navy dress! x
