Hello!
Sometimes I have those weeks where I know I should be blogging but cannot think of a thing to blog about. For me, it's usually after a few weeks of not doing much, which is right on the money. Since Christmas, my weekends have been spent hanging with my family and my best friend. Very little off-the-sofa action occurring, tbh. So, this is what life has been like, lately.
Hair
So, I basically end up in this fantasy world sometimes where I think I will grow out my fringe and my hair will be beautiful and glossy and look wonderful. But what really happens is that my fringe goes all stringy and my hair just looks terrible, so I get annoyed and chop my fringe back in. And then I'm like, 'Sarah. Your hair looks SO much better with a fringe. What is it with this crazy nonsense about growing out your fringe? You don't even LIKE your forehead.' And I shrug ruefully and then instantly forget this conversation with myself and go through the same thing again when my fringe gets too long. So anyway! I cut my fringe. I like it better this way. ALSO I re-dyed it. For ages I have been using Loreal Feria Mango which looks very 'red' (as opposed to 'ginger') when you first put it on but then fades to a lovely auburn, and it's nice when it's faded but also ROOTS, but someone on Twitter recommended I give their shade Paprika Power a go. It popped up in my local Boots and I gave it a go and OH MY GOSH. I love it. It's much richer, but still very much auburn/ginger (not mahogany or fake-red) and the colour is lasting really well so far. I'm a bit in love with my hair at the moment. *swishes* Considering my hair is dark brown, I am over the moon with how well it's taken to my hair. No bleaching! OMG!
Internet
This was really just an excuse to show you this GIF. I love it so. Look how cute they are! And misbehaving!
Reading
I think I've made it pretty clear that I'm a Reader, but I have fallen out of the habit in the past few years. This year though I've already read Horns by Joe Hill, The Diviners by Libba Bray and Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I'm also halfway through The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling which I cannot decide about! It's not gripping, and I think that's why I'm struggling. I miss Harry. But Charlene wrote a post recently saying to stick with it, so I will!
Telly
God, I watch a lot of telly. I stream quite a lot over the internet which I think is not too naughty. Um. Anyway, I've marathoned all of Once Upon A Time to date, got halfway through the third season of Breaking Bad and am also totally obsessed with the current season of Pretty Little Liars. Oh, and Cougar Town. STRANGER TOUCH! And I am full on squeeing about Community coming back this week! If you don't know what any of these shows are, you should seek them out. They're all amazing.
Dieting
I've mentioned a couple of times lately that I gained a bit of weight last year, and had great fun doing so. That? Totally true. But the truth is that I started 2013 at a weight significantly higher than I'd ever been and was really not feeling very good about it. Not to mention a large portion of my epic dress collection no longer fits. NOT ACCEPTABLE YOU GUYS. So I joined Weight Watchers at the start of January and have already lost nearly a stone! I'm back on the Where Are My Knees team, too. I have to say WW is really working for me. I love that I can eat anything, as long as I track the points. It means I am totally still eating cheese. YAY FOR CHEESE.
Cooking
Related to that, I've been doing loads more cooking and have been sharing the recipes I'm trying on Where Are My Knees every Wednesday. This is the perfect time of year to do lots of cooking as it warms you up! I love cooking, but I get lazy very quickly and fall into the ready meal habit - it's so much nicer cooking a giant batch of Spaghetti Bolognese from scratch and popping a portion of that in the microwave after work instead! You can see some of my recipes here. :)
Family
In between cuddles with my sister's cute baby boys (and equally cute big girl) I've been doing some blogging projects with my mum! We teamed up with Matalan to see if we could get her excited about shopping (she hates it) and I've been writing about it on their blog here and here. We even took some outfit photos in my old favourite spot in their garden! I think she realises now that this fashion blogging lark is not as easy as it looks, hee.
Music
I am STRAIGHT UP OBSESSED with the new Fall Out Boy song. OBSESSED. To the extent that I keep putting it on repeat, just by itself, and annoying my colleagues by singing 'LIGHT EM UP LIGHT EM UP' with my headphones in. I am so looking forward to their new album, I can't even. Is it May yet?
I was gutted not to get tickets to their tiny show at the Underworld this morning (500 capacity! I weep!) although I've noticed a few pop up on StubHub already. I'm also a little tempted by the One Direction tickets - what can I say, my tastes are eclectic! Visit this site to see what StubHub have on offer. :)
Weddings
Yep, I'm still going to a lot of weddings. Four last year, if you recall, and I've got another four booked in this year. It is a bit lovely that so many of my friends have found love. Anyway, THIS year I am actively involved in two of them - my best friend Sha is getting married in October, and I'm a bridesmaid! Yay! She just set a date and so we are starting to look at all the fun stuff like decorating and HEN DO PLANNING. Also, my friend Gem (who is also my boss) is getting married in September and I've been tasked with making the cake. This is terrifying but also exciting! I love a challenge and a tiered cake is DEFINITELY a challenge. I think I'm going to need to do lots of practising.
Photography
I haven't taken many photographs lately and I miss it! I also miss posting regular outfit posts, so I think I'm going to have to do something about that. Twitter assures me that I'm not the only one who misses Friday Frocks, so watch this space. :)
Aww I love the HP gif - they look SO SMALL! Oh my gosh <3

I do miss Friday Frocks! Love the Harry Potter gif, I'd kind of forgotten that they were ever that young-looking! Your hair is looking great.

What a fab catch up post! I have that fringe conversation with myself on a regular basis. Your hair looks amazing though, very tempted to try that colour myself =) xx
ReplyDeleteAhh you are so lovely, your hair colour is fabulous. I am a natural ginger and I am a teeny bit jealous of your locks! Well done on the weight loss and yaaay for yummy batch cooking xx
ReplyDeleteNo bleaching? Paprika Powder has Hyddrox. Peroxide in it which is - bleach... Never mind, gorgeous colour, just bought it myself today, can`t wait to give it a go...
ReplyDeleteI mean pre-bleaching, should have been more specific! :) I must confess though the second time I used this, it went a really odd colour, insanely bright at the roots and really light at the ends and apparently it's not an unusual side effect judging by google. So exercise caution - I'm not actually using it any more. :)
