LOOK AT IT.
It was my best friend Sha's birthday celebration on Saturday and as I was pulling together her presents, it occurred to me that I normally bake her something - cookies, or brownies, or whatever. One of the reasons we're such close friends is our shared love of food. It's a little worrying how much we can talk about food. This bond was solidified a few years back when we went to Fat Club together - between us, we lost over 6 stone, but it just made us even more obsessed.
(Seriously, we had a List. The list was made up of foods we could eat on weeks our Fat Club wasn't on. KFC was at the top.)
So, periodically, we send each other pictures and links to amazeballs foodstuffs. I sent her the link to thisiswhyyourefat.com, she sent me fuckyeahpeanutbutter.tumblr.com. I can't, now, remember who first found the pictures of the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cake, but when it came to thinking of the perfect cake for Sha, there was only one option.
This is an amazing cake. I followed the recipe exactly, even down to using a packet mix - I was resistant at first, but god it made it so much easier, and so much cheaper, and the consistency! Divine! Moist, fluffy... oh man. As the icing uses double cream, I think it's technically a ganache, but WHAT a ganache. I may never stop being thirsty.
I had some leftover, so I made cupcakes. The frosting is about the same height as the cake.
In short. MAKE THIS CAKE. And then eat it. You won't want anything other than water ever again, but it'll be worth it. Trust me.
holy lord.. i want to make this now! looks so good!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd quite happily forfeit a weeks worth of food for this cake.
