I decided to really commit to the theme and went for 50s inspired hair and lashings of red lipstick. I have an uneasy relationship with red lippy. I love it - in theory - but I've never worn it out of the house other than to a fancy dress party. I think my problem is I've never found one that really suits me - a trip to MAC for some advice is on my agenda when I next visit London.
Spending £50 in a bargainous shop like Matalan is quite a challenge - especially when there's a sale on! I managed to spend exactly £50 on my outfit (although annoyingly I forgot to include the clutch in the photo on Matalan's blog) and was pretty pleased with myself - also I was careful to only buy things that I knew I'd wear again. I've already taken the belt and super soft cardi on a few outings!
Small fascinator £2 (sold out online)
Shoes £9 (sold out online)
Clutch Bag £5 (sold out online)
= £50 exactly!
Other than the gorgeous dress - love those vibrant colours - my favourite part was the fascinator. I actually combined two fascinators to make a real statement, but I loved the net headband most. I gripped the netting down slightly for a more dramatic look - now to work out when I can wear this again. To Sainsbury's?
It's the first time I've done something like this and I really enjoyed it. Oh - and I'd really appreciate it if you voted for me, pretty pretty please!!
Such a lovely outfit, very 50's! (Which is good, considering that was the aim...) xx
